Applied Materials Unveils Semiconductor Exhibit at Taiwan Science Education Center

To promote science education and excite young people about applying science and technology to solve problems and improve the way people live, the National Taiwan Science Education Center (NTSEC) and Applied Materials unveiled a semiconductor exhibit titled “Amazing Semiconductors” at NTSEC in Taipei, Taiwan this week.

The exhibit showcases semiconductor devices, how they are manufactured, consumer products, and how we interact with them in our daily lives. The exhibit also included green technology such as solar and light emitting diodes (LEDs). The goal of the new exhibit is to inspire the innovators of tomorrow by stimulating their imaginations with hands-on activities.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Nelson Chu, NTSEC director and YW Kung, government official from the Ministry of Education presented an appreciation award to Applied Materials Chairman and CEO Mike Splinter in recognition of the company’s long-term commitment and contributions to science and technology education. Applied Materials’ Taiwan Country President Erix Yu and the Director of the Department of Social Education under the Ministry of Education also attended the ceremony.

Applied Materials first partnered with NTSEC, a highly regarded public institution, in 2007 with the sponsorship of the “First Encounter with Semiconductors” exhibit. It has received more than 600,000 visits from students, teachers and parents.
