Applied Materials Foundation Supports SOS Children's Village of India
The Applied Materials Foundation extended its support of SOS Children’s Villages of India by sponsoring family homes for 30 children, an 18 seater school bus and solar lights for the main avenue of the village. The solar street lights will provide clean, highly energy efficient and economical light to the village campus.
The main objective of the SOS Children’s Villages of India is to help homeless children by giving them a family, home and a strong foundation for an independent and secure life. At SOS Children's Village Bangalore, 368 children have found a new home, of which 63 children are already leading a settled life. The remaining children are living in a secure environment with a loving family. An SOS mother who looks after ten children at any given time, showers them with warmth, love and care as the head of each family unit.
SOS, as a responsible organization, has also installed solar home lights and solar water heaters in all 16 Family homes in the Bangalore campus showcasing their commitment to clean energy.
Applied Materials and the Applied Materials Foundation are committed to investing in meaningful social causes in communities in which it operates. The concept of SOS addresses a very critical aspect of bringing up children - that of providing them inclusive growth.
Applied Materials India has been involved with SOS Children’s Villages for more than two years and the main objective of this collaboration has been to relentlessly support nutrition, health and the education of children.
