Applied Materials is gearing up for an eventful participation in the 25th European Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Valencia, Spain this week. This is a time of considerable ferment.

Applied Materials' crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar division is having a record year, by some estimates selling sufficient tools to double cell making capacity in a single year.

Applied’s next-generation higher-efficiency c-Si photovoltaic (PV) technologies including, high-transmittance double-printed grids, high-precision selective emitter processing, high-performance integrated back contact cells, low-cost monolithic module assembly, will be highlighted in conference presentations and booth displays.

Meanwhile, Applied Materials has reorganized its thin-film PV business with a focus going forward on selling individual high-performance production tools and on defining a new generation of higher-efficiency thin-film PV technologies that allow leading manufacturers to compete head-to-head with high-volume c-Si technologies.

Exciting thin-film PV results include, 10% conversion efficiencies recently achieved on large-area module, cost-saving manufacturing line yield management products, solid "bankability" field data that provides the foundation for this strategic focus will be presented at the conference in oral and visual format.

Applied Materials welcomes you to our presentations and to our booth (Hall 2, Level 2, Stand #B1). For more information on Applied’s participation in PVSEC 2010, please visit our multimedia page where you can find full details of Applied’s more than 15 paper presentations, plus videos and media resources.

See you in Valencia!
