Applied Materials has been a supporter of City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley since 1996 and is once again proud to sponsor a team of corps members. To enrich that partnership, corps members made their annual visit to Applied Materials' Santa Clara, California headquarters today. During the half-day visit, the members will tour the Maydan Technology Center, a manufacturing area of the company’s Display business, and enjoy lunch with a group of employees to share experiences and network.

After their visit to Applied Materials, the team will return to their passion of changing the world. Since this fall they have been working alongside faculty and administration at Lee Mathson Middle School in San Jose, California. Corps members provide critical services to the most in-need youth and neighborhoods.

The Applied Materials Foundation makes considerable investments in education, striving to increase access for underserved youth to high-quality education that prepares them for success in life. The academic enrichment in core subject areas provided by the City Year team is an ideal component that helps to improve student achievement.

Recently, employees of Applied Materials spent the day with City Year corps members and the Mathson community sprucing up the school, painting college logos on the blacktop and planting a garden.

Applied Materials is excited about the year that lies ahead. Go Team Mathson!
