Applied Materials recently participated in the Renewable Energy India 2011 Expo – a global platform, aimed at synergizing policy initiatives and innovative finance models to accelerate the development of collaborative research and development and technology transfers in renewables in India.

At the expo, Applied Materials announced a wafering deal that was recently signed with Birla Surya Ltd., a venture of the Yash Birla Group to develop the first ever Wafering and Cell manufacturing facility in Satara, Maharashtra. Clean Energy Ministerial: 24 Nations Endorse 11 New Worldwide Initiatives

The first-ever Clean Energy Ministerial brought together ministers and stakeholders from 24 nations in Washington, D.C., last week to collaborate on policies and programs that accelerate the world's transition to clean energy technologies. Participants included executives from top global companies – including Charlie Gay of Applied Materials.

Charlie, who is president of Applied's solar business, was a panelist at an event that occurred on the first day of the two-day Ministerial, hosted by U.S. Energy Secretary Stephen Chu. Read more
