The National Association of Manufacturers is highlighting several manufacturing companies that are "making investments to be more energy efficient and productive while protecting the environment."

Also included are Subaru, Ford, Allied PhotoChemical and Waste Management.

On its website NAM had this to say about Applied Materials:

"Applied Materials' SunFab thin film line produces the largest and most cost-effective solar panels in the world. With the SunFab fully-integrated factory solution and the large 5.7m panel design, making it possible to drive down the cost for utility scale solar energy generation to below $3.50/watt.

The Applied Materials fab2farm solar deployment model delivers low cost solar energy and creates local jobs by linking a SunFab factory with a large utility-owned solar farm."
