Earlier this month, Applied Materials CEO and Chairman Mike Splinter (far left) led United States Senator for Colorado Michael Bennet (second from left) among others on a tour that included the company's solar operations as well as its 2MW solar array and R&D solar installation.

Bennet is a staunch supporter of solar energy. As a first-term Senator, Senator Bennet has already shown leadership and support on a number of Applied's solar policy initiatives including a national Renewable Electricity Standard (RES), R&D tax credit and the Solar Manufacturing Jobs Creation Bill — legislation that would extend the 30% solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) to the purchase of solar manufacturing equipment. This legislation would allow Applied's domestic solar customers the incentive and business certainty to make crucial manufacturing facility investments.

Senator Bennet will be a solar champion in the Senate so it was a great opportunity to show him Applied's manufacturing technology, our campus solar arrays, and discuss our policy agenda.
